Carrera is a brand created in 1956 by Wilhelm Anger, inspired by the Panamerican automobile race, a 6-day competition, considered one of the most dangerous in the world. 
This inspiration came from the spirit of overcoming and sacrifice of its participants. 


The Carrera brand consists of sunglasses and prescription glasses. 
The creator of the brand, Wilhelm Anger, developed and patented in 1964, a new material for making glasses called Optyll. This polymer is a plastic that has shape memory, 20% lighter than conventional acetates, very resistant and that allows a multitude of colors. 
In 1996, the Carrera glasses became part of the Safilo group, which in turn acquired the patent for the Optyll material, using it in other collections that it manufactures, such as Dior, Gucci or Hugo Boss. 

Carrera's collection of prescription glasses is very wide, it is made up of a multitude of models, all of them technologically worked with the purpose of creating comfortable and functional glasses, without leaving aside the trends of the moment.
